May Roundup

It's been 10 weeks since the lockdown began and we can now start to see restrictions lifting ever so slightly. Thank you to all our students, parents and teachers for your support during the pandemic.

Lessons are running as normal during the second half of the summer term (from 1st June) and we will be finishing for the summer holidays on Tuesday 21st July 2020.

News

Our virtual lessons have been going really well over the last couple of months and we are pleased to announce that this will continue to be offered once the lockdown is lifted, giving our students flexibility if they cannot attend our studios.

If you missed it, we released a blog post with our top tips on having the best virtual music lesson. You can read it here.

We sadly, said goodbye to one of our fantastic guitar teachers, Michael Button. We wish him well and a big thank you for all the excellent teaching he has done for our students, whilst part of our team.

Exams

RGT and LCM exam boards have offered students who had exams booked in March, to take their exam online.

The format of the exam will be a recording which needs to be sent to your guitar teacher by the 3rd July.

The recording is then uploaded to the exam board on 10th July.

The Trinity exam board have not yet released any details about summer examinations and if these are taking place still. All updates will be emailed to parents as soon as we know.

If you have any questions about this, please email Yolly and Helen in the office.

Virtual Holiday Workshops

During the summer holidays, we would like to host a couple of guitar and ukulele workshops for players of all abilities. As the lockdown restrictions are slowly lifting, we are toying with the idea of doing a virtual workshop.

Our students have had great fun at the workshops in the past and we would like to offer a virtual alternative this year.

To get an idea of numbers, please register your interest by following this link: Holiday Workshop Summer 2020

Dates for the workshops will be released once the details have been finalised.

Youtube Channel

As you may have seen on our 'Online Tutorials' page, Helen has shared 'How to' videos of three popular songs on the ukulele.

We would love our students to feature on our Youtube channel and have a go at playing a composition you have created yourself or a cover of a song of your choice.

If you would like to submit something to the Little Strummers Youtube channel, please contact Helen in the office.

Thank you for a great start to the summer term and we look forward to sharing more exciting news with you over the next coming months.

Please like and share our Facebook page with friends and family - we post regular updates, competitions for the children and upcoming local events.

Happy strumming!
